Drew at 6 months.

You can't see it in this picture, but he's holding a shotgun.

Just kidding.

New Pics!

Were you getting sick of looking at those lame pre-pregnancy pics? I was. Here are some different ones.

Here's what we did for Easter!

And here are some pictures from our Yuma vacation.

These are from our California trip back in April.

And here are some from our St. George trip.

And from our latest Cali trip.

Yeah. All we ever do is go on vacation.

No wonder I haven't been blogging lately.

Enjoy the pics :)

I miss...

Okay, this post is going to be a little self indulgent. I mean, a lot self indulgent. But, it's my blog so I can post what I want, right?

I know I have a lot of catching up to do. I'll do that later.

First, I need to vent and tell you about a few things I've really been missing lately...

1. My body.

When I was pregnant with Drew I was so excited to watch my belly grow. This time around, looking down at my giant belly is just depressing.

My stomach wasn't perfect before I got pregnant this time... but it certainly looked a WHOLE LOT better than it does now. (I'll post some belly shots later so you can all see how huge I am.)

Remember this? Look at that flat tummy! Will I ever get that back??? Sigh.

2. My hair.

Stupid hormones. I let them get the better of me. I was sick of my long hair and I cut it. Now I want it back. It was actually kinda pretty. Here's the picture I took of it before the cut.

3. My skin.

My face is a total disaster. A war zone. It's worse than junior high. It looked okay before... see?

4. My brain.

Remember when I used to tutor advanced high school geometry? And blog about the legal ramifications of gay marriage? Now I can't remember how to speak English, or where I put my keys, or my purse, or the mail, or Drew's shoes, or how old I am, or what day it is, or what 6 times 4 equals. (Wait... it's 24... right?) Will I ever get my brain back?

5. Worrying about one.

I already miss life with just one. Drew and I have had so much fun together. He's my little buddy. What will happen when I have two???

I hope I can adjust, let go, and enjoy life with two. And I really hope this baby sleeps. Or I'm going to go totally nuts.

The End.

Nothing to Blog About

I wish I could post pictures of my finished kitchen but the stomach flu and the rain/snow have put a damper on my progress.

So, instead, here are some pictures of nothing in particular.

Here's Drew eating dinner in his jammies, looking like the Fonz. Somebody Photoshop a gold chain around his neck and send it to me, okay?

It snowed several times last month. So we made snowmen... with playdough. (Like I'm going to go outside when it's freezing... PUH-LEASE.) This snowman is so cool he's wearing sunglasses.

I found a bug in my Mini Wheats last month... so I cleaned out and disinfected my ENTIRE pantry. I didn't find any other bugs (Hallelujah!) but just to be safe, I sealed everything up in plastic tubs...

(Don't you wish YOUR pantry looked this good???)

I also cleaned out my freezer.

And my closet. (Garrit laughs at me because I take pictures when things are clean and organized. But... who knows if my closet will ever look like this again?)

Drew loves to "help" me clean up. Here he is "helping" after church.

Oh yeah, and in case you haven't heard, I'm pregnant. Here's my first attempt at a DIY Bella Band. I just cut the top off an old T shirt and stitched it up a bit on either side to make it snug. (If you want to make one too, here's the tutorial.)

Here's Drew with a baby in his tummy.

TA-DAH!

(IF ONLY labor and delivery were that easy. Men don't understand these things.)

And, finally, here's Drew "hiding" in the hamper.

If someone will please order some sunshine for a few days, I'll get my kitchen finished and post some pictures. Okay?

(Also, as you may have noticed, we're still not private. I KNOW I don't have everyone's emails. If you haven't left me your email, leave it as a comment. I won't publish it but I'll add it to my list. Thanks.)

I need help!

Well friends, I wasn't going to post pictures of my kitchen again until it was FINISHED but... I need help.

We have been trying to renovate our kitchen on a grad student budget for the past year-and-a-half while trying to raise our rambunctious toddler. I'm ready to be DONE with the kitchen but I can't make decisions! So I need your help.

Here's a little recap of what we've done so far.

Our kitchen has gone from this:

To this:

Then to this:

And then to this:

And this:

And then my son started sleeping (mostly) through the night and I realized my kitchen was still ugly (and stuck in Scandinavia in the 90s.) So, inspired by this:

And this:

I did this:

And this:

But something still didn't feel right. I felt like the raw butcher block was clashing with the dark floor. So last Saturday I stained the beech butcher block on the island a dark walnut:

(Please excuse the mess.)

Now I'm freaking out about it. I think the stain is too dark and I'm not sure about the black and brown combo. But I don't know what to do next.

Do I:

1. Sand the island top back down to raw beech and change the paint color on the kitchen walls to tie in with the island??? (Maybe a creamy yellow???)

2. Sand the island top and stain it a lighter color; similar to the floor but not as dark???

3. Leave the island the way it is???

4. Demolish the kitchen and take out a loan to start over???

Also, do you think I should paint the upper cabinets black too?

Please help me!!! Thanks!!!
